Lee Elia, Now this is a meltdown.
Recently, upon the hiring of Lou Pinella, the Chicago Tribune ran an article speculating whether Pinella would bring along his long time bench coach Lee Elia.
It seems that in the early 80's, while managing the Cubs, Elia suffered a press meltdown of gargantuan proportions, so huge in fact that all I can do is wonder just how it is that so-called sports writers like "The Sports Guy" can continually overlook it when talking about the greatest sports meltdowns of all Time. "Playoffs"? Please. "Practice? We're talkin' bout practice" No. "Go ahead and crown their asses!!" Maybe. But seriously if you have never heard this before listen to it for yourself. (NSFW)
